[His back goes straight, stiffening with surprise. It feels strange, as his implant activates and suddenly the world is a new place. Looking right into Crow's eyes as it happens is also odd because for a moment it feels like he's staring out of Crow's eyes back at himself.

Perhaps Crow feels the same, but it's a bare moment. And then Rean is exhaling the breath he was holding.]

I try to keep things exciting. They didn't warn you?

[They didn't warn him. Rean's superiors are either too professional for personal comments or jerks who gleefully sent him off to suffer the surprise (lookin' at you, Sara).]

[Sara probably thought it was a great opportunity for Rean to grow.]

[Same as Crow should have gotten on him. He sighs but he's already over it. It'll be a good experience. He's happy to try new things, anyway, and that includes being mentally connected to someone who right off the bat seems a little bit like his total opposite. But he doesn't dislike Crow, something about him is fundamentally charming.]

That's a real shame. And I spend so much time cultivating my reputation.

[He heaves a dramatic sigh (as if he even has to breathe), shrugging and shaking his head in theatrical disappointment.]
